Maharashtra Education Society was founded by the great revolutionary Late. Shree Vasudev Balvant Phadke & renowned educationists Late. Shree Laxman Narahar Indapurkar, Late. Shree Vaman Prabhakar Bhave. These revolutionaries have successfully nurtured the spirit of patriotism & imbibed moral, ethical,cultural & social values in the society in the bygone era. Thus MES has a glorious legacy of 156 years.
At present, The M. E. Society has a strong heritage in the area of pre-primary, primary, secondary, & higher education having over 70 units; involved in shaping the careers of more than 40000 students from K.G. to Ph.D
Each of the 70 plus units has its own uniqueness, goals & roadmaps. What unites them is their synergy with the philosophy of M.E.Society, which believes in inspiring young generation to meet their full potentials as learners. M. E. Society creates supportive educational environment for its units so that they can produce self motivated students and responsible future citizens.
With the finest educators and sprawling campuses, with state-of-the-artinfrastructure, spread over in five districts of Western Maharashtra, Konkan & Mumbai; M.E.Society offers incomparable education experience, in the field of Commerce, Science, Arts, Management, Information Technology, Bio-technology, Ayurveda Medicine, Nursing & in the area of Community Services.
In this endeavour, all the units have employed student-centric approach, modern technology, application-oriented pedagogy for holistic development of students & the development of the noble profession of education. Recognizing its contribution, the Ministry of Social Justice, Government of Maharashtra had conferred the prestigious Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Samajbhushan Puraskar to M.E.Society for the year 2015-16.
Today, Garware College of Commerce, a core unit of M. E. Society, enjoys a commendable reputation in Maharashtra, for its qualified & experienced faculty, its learning resources like Library, Computer Lab, Language Lab, and Business Lab. The Activities of Entrepreneurship Cell, co-curricular & extension activities, its sports achievements, auditorium and infrastructural facilities have created higher benchmarks in the educational scenario under SPPU.
Conferences, Seminars, Debates, Quizzes, Youth Festivals, Entrepreneur’s Meet, Placement Fairs, Youth Weeks, Blood Donation Camps, NSS, NCC, Plantation Drives, Sports events are the regular features of Garware College of Commerce.
The High Standard of academic delivery, adopted by Garware College of Commerce has already received recognition & appreciation from various bodies, NGOs, Government and different stake holders. In the academic year 2013-14, the college received the prestigious ‘Best College Award’ from Savitribai Phule Pune University. In the year 2016, NAAC has also conferred ‘A’ Grade with the CGPA 3.45 on a 4 point scale to the college. As a model unit, college continuously aspires to create a ‘World Class Environment’ for shaping the future generations innovatively.
